Psalm 73:16-17 (ESV) - “But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.”

Psalm 73:22-24 (ESV) - “When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.”

Psalm 73:25-26 (ESV) - “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Point 1

If we remain in the horizontal, our anxieties will multiply, but if we move to the vertical, our anxieties will dissipate.

-----------------------------

Point 2

God is the only love whose fulfillment exceeds its expectation.

-----------------------------

Deut. 6:4 (ESV) - “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”

The Shema

Deut. 6:5-6 (ESV) - “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.”

Deut. 6:7-8 (ESV) - “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.”

-----------------------------

Point III

The greatest gift we can give the next generation is a love for God.

-----------------------------

“The most consequential decision we make each day is what we choose to think about.”
Jonathan Haidt, The Anxious Generation

-----------------------------

Deut. 6:9 (ESV) - “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
