Go Tell It: Part 5 – Courageous Ambassadors, Kizombo Kalumbula
2 Corinthians 5:16-21

That is why reconciliation. Reconciliation is not optional; it is essential.
Colossians 1:21–22
And not only that—we received a calling.
I am an ambassador
- An ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomat representing their home country in a foreign nation or international organization, serving as the official spokesperson for their government.
 A representative of a kingdom
 A carrier of a message
 A bridge between two parties
 A peacemaker sent into tension
And today God is saying: “Go tell it—You are My ambassador.”
2 Corinthians 5:16-21

I. A New Way of Seeing the World (16-17)
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view…
Paul begins by addressing something foundational to our mission: How we see people.
How do you see people?
1. The Old Lens: Division
a. Labels
b. Politics
c. Personal biases
2. The New Lens: Transformation
a. We do not define people by their past

b. We do not reduce people to labels
c. We do not see enemies, but we see potential family members.
3. Kingdom Vision; we see people as Jesus sees them
a. Not just a tax collector – He saw Mathew – Matthew 9:91-3
b. Not just a sinner – He saw a restored woman – John 8:1-11
c. Not just a persecutor – He saw Paul – Acts 7:58-60; Acts 8:1-3; Acts 9:1-2
Takeaway # 1: If we are going to reconcile people, we must first re-see them as God
sees them.
II. Reconciliation is a gift we receive from God. (vv. 18-19a)
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the
ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not
counting people’s sins against them.”
1. What does reconciliation mean?
a. Restoring relationship
b. Removing hostility
c. Bringing peace
All these are God’s initiative in the lives of the followers of Christ.
2. Reconciliation has a cost attached to it.
a. The life of Christ
b. The shedding of Christ’s blood
c. The bearing of our sin
3. The result of reconciliation
a. We are forgiven
b. We are accepted
c. We are restored
Takeaway # 2: You cannot give what you have not received. Therefore, before you can
become an ambassador, you must first be reconciled to the King. So you can receive
your assignment. We each have an assignment.
III. The Assignment of the Ambassador (vv. 19b-20)
…And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s
ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on
Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

Takeaway #3: Some of us are saved, but we remain silent. But heaven is calling for
courageous ambassadors.
IV. The Heart of the Message
2 Corinthians 5:21, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we
might become the righteousness of God.”
This is the Gospel, or the good news.
Matthew 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
What is the path to becoming a courageous ambassador and a peacemaker?

Take Action:
2 Corinthians 5:16-21; Matthew 9:9-13; John 8:1-11; Acts 7:58-60; 8:1-3; 9:1-2, John 3:16
1. What has the Holy Spirit revealed to you about your calling after hearing this message?
2. Where in your life are you still viewing people through the worldly point of view (labels, past hurts, biases), and how can you begin to see them as God sees them this week?
3. Have you personally embraced God’s reconciliation through Christ freshly and fully? What might be preventing you from fully receiving His forgiveness or extending it to others?
4. In what specific environments (home, workplace, church, community) is God calling you to represent Him as an ambassador of reconciliation?
5. Who is one person in your life that needs to hear the message of reconciliation? What step can you take this week to lovingly and courageously share that message?
6. Is there a relationship in your life that needs healing or reconciliation? What practical steps (conversation, apology, forgiveness, prayer) can you take to pursue peace?
