Prov. 3:9-10 (ESV) “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then
your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”

1. How has money impacted your life?

1 Tim. 6:10 (NIV) “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money,
have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

Prov. 3:9-10 (ESV) Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your
barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

1 Chron. 29:12-14 (ESV) “Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as
generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your
hand.”

The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn

2. God owns everything and I’m His money manager.

Matt. 6:19-21 (ESV) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin
destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

3. My heart always goes where I put God’s money.

Matt. 25:14-30 (NIV) “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and
entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. ‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will
be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

4. God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving.
Prov. 3:9-10 (ESV) Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

5. There’s a blessing that comes in giving.

1 Corinthians 15:20-23 (NIV) “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those
who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also
through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the
firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.”

James 1:18 tells us (NIV) “He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of fifirstfruits of all he created.”
